We record an alert on the medical records of patients with a visual impairment to ensure that we can assist when it comes to reading the call screen in the waiting room.

Car Park Access in Bad Weather

Following recent patient discussions, we have taken advice from our insurance company regarding the use of the car park during adverse weather conditions such as snow or ice.

The car park is usually available for patient and staff use all year round however on a small number of occasions we have to take the sensible decision to close it for safety reasons. Once this decision is made it is in force for all users both visitors and staff. Our insurance company have advised that if we cannot make the whole area safe to use then we should close or restrict its use. This is why we sometimes have to close the car park to cars and restrict access to a walkway only via the pedestrian gate. We will adequately grit and mark out a walkway from the gate to the building. We expect users to remain within this safe area and we will check the condition of the walkway regularly throughout the day.

As requested, we will try to inform of any car park closure or restricted access via the Golcar, Milnsbridge, Longwood and Scape Area community page on Facebook.

Whilst we completely understand that the closure of our car park can make access difficult when visiting the surgery, we do have healthcare at the forefront of our minds and the safety of our patients / visitors is paramount. NHS regulations do not require GP surgeries to provide any parking and therefore we are very lucky on most days of the year to have a sizeable car park that is adequate for use.
